Poison oak usually grows in the north western area of the United States, as well as southern areas of Canada. Although, it can be found in patches throughout the US. It normally does not grow in high altitude.

It usually grows as a vine climbing up the trunks of oak and sycamore trees. Poison oak can also form dense thickets of bushes. It is very similar to poison ivy.

Poison Ivy is found throughout the United States, in low altitudes under 5000 feet. It is considered a “vine” and can be found growing or climbing trees. It also will grow in patches on the ground, and in dense bushes. Many times you can find poison ivy at the edge of the woods or the edge of farm fields. Worse, yet, it is happy to grow in your garden.
